Laser Hair Removal

No more waxing, No more stubble, No more in-grown hairs, No more Hair! Laser Hair Removal is one of the most popular methods of face and body hair removal treatments with a more permanent, convenient solution compared to at home weekly, stubbly-shaving, harsh creams, messy bleaching or salon sticky waxing every month.

How does Laser/IPL hair removal work? Laser hair removal uses pulses of highly concentrated light to remove hair by absorbing the pigment in the hair follicles, cauterising the germinating active anagen phase of the hair cycle. The dormant phase of the hair will not be treated which is why a minimum course of 6 treatments is needed every 6 weeks to treat any dormant hair follicles as they enter the active anagen stage. Ensuring your laser sessions are every 6 weeks, allows the active hair follicles that have been cauterised to heal and the dormant hair follicles to reach the active phase, ready for your next laser hair removal session.

Which hair removal method do i use in-between Laser/IPL hair removal treatments? You can only shave your hair in-between laser hair removal sessions.  No waxing or plucking is allowed as these methods remove the hair follicle and hair bulb from the dermis. We need the hair follicle and hair bulb there for the laser light pulses to cauterise the follicle at the base below the epi-dermis to prevent further hair growth.  You will need to shave any areas you are treating 24 hours before your laser hair removal treatment to prepare for the session and prevent any sensitivity.

How many treatments will i need? A course of treatments is advised with a minimum of 6-8 sessions, additional sessions maybe required. Once your course of treatments are complete and you are satisfied with your laser/IPL hair removal results, one top up treatment is recommended every 12-18 months. Laser/IPL hair removal is a very effective treatment for all skin and hair types except blonde or white hair.

Is Laser/IPL hair removal permanent? Unlike other hair removal methods laser/IPL hair removal is a reliable, cost-effective permanent hair reduction option that removes unwanted hair by directing concentrated light to target the hair follicles at the root inhibiting hair growth without disrupting the skin’s surface.

Does Laser hair removal hurt? Laser/IPL hair removal is virtually painless in comparison to waxing, sensitive areas such as the upper lip and intimate bikini area can feel more sensation such as a warm rubber band snap on the skin or a warm tingling feeling. Sam Davies Beauty Skin Wellness uses a UK Medical Grade IPL laser machine recommended by VTCT that has an advanced cooling system to reduce heat, minimising any skin discomfort.
